  • Determine the minimum legal conditions of employment.
  • Draft any employment contract.
  • Identify and classify transgression.
  • Implement procedures to deal with dismissible and non-dismissible offences.
  • Represent parties in a disciplinary and grievance enquiry.
  • Participate in the resolution of disputes.
  • Represent stakeholders in matters that arise at the shop-floor.
  • Participate in and implement BBBEE and employment equity policies and procedures.
  • Provide information and advice on skills development legislation, assessment and learning.
  • Promote a learning culture.

Module 1: Interpretation & Application of Labour Law in SA (5 days)
         • Understand Labour Law as well as monitor and advise on substantive conditions of employment and related matters (SAQA Unit Standard 11909).
         • Draft an employment contract and related policies and procedures (SAQA Unit Standard 13995).
         • Understand and engage in dismissals for misconduct, incapacity and operational requirements (SAQA Unit Standard 11286 & 10985).
         • Resolve disputes and acquire basic litigation skills.

Tutorial 1: NEDLAC & Labour Law Reviews.
 
Module 2: Strategic Human Resource Planning  (3 days)
         • Represent stakeholders in engagements on labour relations matters (SAQA Unit Standard 12135).
         • The Employment Equity Act and manpower planning (SAQA Unit Standard 10983).
         • The Skills Development and related Acts and Regulations – driving competence.
         • The BBBEE Act and Codes.

Tutorial 2: Skills Development and Employment Equity Compliance & DG Reviews.

Pre-requisites to attending

  • Students who wish to enrol on to this course must be able to communicate effectively (NQF Level 4). 
  • Students must be able to apply principles of policy and procedure implementation. 
  • Students must be able to demonstrate an understanding of an organisation and its functions. 
  • Students must be able to apply consultation skills.
